View source for Milford-On-Sea 12th June 2011

Upon recommendation from a local Radio Amateur the society planned an outing to Milford-On-Sea for the 12th of June 2011. [http://www.sown.org.uk/wiki/SUWS_June_Outing Plan on SOWN Wiki].

Unfortunately the weather (very high winds and sea spray) prohibited operation from the beach car park as was planned, although it was verified as a good future location.

== Setup ==

The gazebo was set up alongside the minibus, with a waterproof tarp covering both to provide cover from the rain. An end-fed zep antenna was put up between the minibus and a single section of scaffold pole lashed to a fencepost a short distance away.

Later on a section of scaffold pole was put up using a tripod in order to mount a 3-element 2m yagi antenna.

== Contacts ==

Several European contacts were made on HF SSB during the evening, finishing with a contact to Florida, USA just after midnight.

On 2m FM several local contacts were made, as well as a contact over 60 miles away in Devon. There was no luck on 2m SSB however we were advised to try on a Tuesday activity night.
