This is a photo of the old Radio Club room, taken in December 1994.
This is the room at the concourse end of the top floor of the old SUSU building.
starting at the left hand side on the benches we have:
- a black log book that has notes (probably on the 2m linear amplifier)
- soldering iron
- large grey 50 ohms attenuator
- AVO meter
- Maplin catalogue
- soldering iron
- reel of orange wire
- 2m/70cm cross needle SWR meter
RF box of the clubs home made 2m linear amplifier
Under the bench you can see:
- huge reels of coax
- two old radios the top one is an Eddistone which still worked the bottom one I'm not sure about.
- an oscilloscope (with the bin in front of it)
- the black death box. This is the 3kV DC power supply for the 2m linear amplifier the bottom half of this was all capacitors and the top half was all safety devices to stop you being fried by the bottom half. But building and testing these safety devices seemed to be the most dangerous activity the club has ever undertaken.
